Report from the next morning:

So, the bunch of tarts that we are - we could not agree on a location last night for dinner– debate went back and forth about atmosphere, late night happy hour menus, cost and distance to Michelle’s. As 9 p.m. approached, we were in a weakened state brought on by low blood sugar levels.

When Nell Anne told us to quit f’in around and list everyone’s top two choices and focus the discussion on the ones with multiple votes and we ended up with 6 different restaurants I thought she was going to start throwing things.

Finally, I told them everyone was going to write their top two choices (which had changed since the last exercise) and put them in a hat. There was going to be no further discussion once a name was drawn we were just going to pile into the car and go.

So – in to the hat goes:

Deb’s picks: Ringside (great, cheap happy hour food, comfy atmosphere) or Cactus Jacks (I like the bartender and it is across the street from Nell Anne’s where I was crashing).

Nell Anne’s picks: Sushi (Michelle hates seafood) or Stockpot ($$ but good food, good atmosphere and close)

Mikki’s picks: Ringside and Brasserie Montmartre (wtf? Expensive and downtown, so annoying to get to – which didn’t match any of the proposed initial guidelines– but agreeably an enormous treat)

When Marianella (Mikki’s roommate) acting as a disinterested third party pulled “Brasserie” out of the hat – I looked at Mikki and said “you’re driving.” (I should have also said “you’re paying...”)

At the thought of driving downtown –NAO was on the verge of climbing onto a building and taking other people out with a high powered rifle. We had to get this girl a smoke, a cocktail and a snack quickly or things were going to get ugly. We climbed into Mikki’s vehicle and rallied enough to drive to the Bras. GUESS WHAT? it was closed for a major remodel.

Can I tell you how delicious and cheap the Ringside was? Or should I instead focus on the calming effect that sharing a bottle of Cottonwood Pinot Noir with Michelle had on Nell Anne?

It was a lovely evening! Much girl gossip, giggling and wonderful $2.95 plates of fried oysters, prime rib dippers, caeser salads and a lovely lemon drop or two.

um humph - It was my understanding that evenings on the town were to be curtailed due to the NEW DESIGNER ATHLETIC CLUB membership???

Wasn't that the deal? "We will cook at Michelle's or Nell Anne's I promise" right?

Or did I hallucinate that.
