When running through the schedule last weekend during family meeting, we noticed that Sunday, September 10 was grandparent's day. We decided to host the grandma's for dinner – the Knutsens brought their moms as well as fresh crab, sorbet sundaes and fruit salad, and Chuck and I put together bruschetta, garlic bread, green salad, roasted potatoes and cheesecake. We had a great time – but decided we needed something special and unique to celebrate the day. Someone proposed a "grandma parade." We talked the kids into selecting silly hats (which required accompanying scarves) and sent the kids and grandmas around the block for the first annual Tillamook Grandma Parade while we cleared the table…
Enroute I understand they a police car pulled over and asked them what they were doing… (it was a sketchy looking bunch). They explained it was a grandma's parade. The officer then asked if they had a parade permit. When he found out they didn't, he said that this time he was going to let it slide, since they were with their grandmas, but not to let it happen again.
